What Do Angels Look Like?

Like the little old lady who returned
your wallet yesterday.

Like the taxi driver who told you that your eyes
light up the world, when you smile.

Like the small child who showed you
the wonder in simple things.

Like the poor man who offered to
share his lunch with you.

Like the rich man who showed you that it
really is possible, if only you believe.

Like the stranger who just happened to come along when you had lost your way.

Like the friend who touched your heart,
when you didn't think you had one to touch.

Angels come in all sizes and shapes,
some with wrinkles, some without.

They come disguised as friends, enemies,
teachers, students, lovers and fools.

They don't take life too seriously,
they travel light.

They leave no forwarding address,
they ask nothing in return.

They wear sneakers with gossamer wings,
they get a deal on dry cleaning.

They are hard to find when
your eyes are closed, but

They are everywhere you look,
when you choose to see.

Commentary by Marilyn Barnard
*
My 86-year-old-mom broke her arm
a couple of months ago which
involved the usual,
numerous trips back and forth to
the doctor for check-ups. After
one rather lengthy visit, we solved
the lunch problem by going to Furrs.
"Not one of my better ideas," I thought
as I tried to follow the Furrs helper
to a table, hold my tray and my mom
as I watched her wobble through
the maze of tables. We had barely
sat down when she reached for her
silverware and knocked over her
glass of water.

The lady sitting in the booth behind
her simply handed her napkin over the
seat so I could wipe up the water; then she
handed me a bowl for the ice while
her husband went for a towel.
I gratefully accepted them and commented
that I knew angels were here on earth.

Even though Mom was eating with her
"wrong" hand, we made it through the
rest of the meal without incident.
Shortly before we finished, the couple
behind her got up to leave. As they
neared our table, I looked up to thank
them again for their help and the
gentleman reached down, retrieved our
ticket, and hurried away. I finished
my meal through tear-filled eyes and
was more convinced than ever that
"Sometimes, there are angels among
us if we only look to see them."

I would like to dedicate this page
to all the angels out
there among us.
Especially all of our
Dear and Precious Motherss.
"HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!"
"Thanks for sharing this Marilyn!"
Sincerely,
Linda <><
