Welcome to the DeskMate info page.  To run deskmate, you must first unzip all the files in the deskmate.zip file to a folder/directory on your hard disk (I sugguest C:\deskmate).  Once that is done, I suggest you make a boot disk for two reasons. The first is Deskmate requires its own special entry into the autoexec.bat file, the second is if you are running Windows 95/98, this is an easy way to boot into DOS mode and run deskmate(since I don't advise trying to run if from Windows).  So just create a Dos Boot disk, and create an autoexec.bat file on it.  My autoexec.bat file contains the following:

set dmconfig=C:\deskmate
c:
cd deskmate
desk

Note the above example assumes you saved Deskmate to the C:\deskmate folder/directory.

And that's it, so, when you want to run deskmate, put the boot disk in the drive, reboot the computer or turn it on, and then, everything should work.  Once Deskmate is started, you can remove the boot disk from the drive.  To boot back to your normal operating system, just remove the disk and reboot or turn the computer on and your regular OS should load normally.  If you have any questions, email me at  enterprise@nac.net

Other notes:

For some reason, when you bring down the accessories menu, and click phone list, the computer freezes.  If this happens, just reboot the computer.  You can still keep phone numbers on the computer by using the address book which works fine.  Everything else seems to work fine to.

This version of Deskmate does not include the sound or music program, since they work only on a Tandy computer's sound system.

Also, for those of you who have forgot or never used deskmate before, when you bring down a menu, you have to double click on an item in the menu to select it.

The version of Deskmate you have downloaded was set up for my computer and my personal preferences.  Feel free to customize Deskmate for your own needs.
