Characters involved with The New Treasure Hunt

The New Treasure Hunt had several strange characters that were frequently involved with adding humor to the prize skits. Many were one-time personalities played by cast members for one skit, but several, such as the ones below, made repeat appearances as Treasure Hunt mainstays.

President Treasure W. Hunt Sr.: Wearing a silver top hat and escorted by two money-throwing models, this greedy 100-year-old man (played by Mike Metzger) supposedly "created" The New Treasure Hunt and was responsible for all the prizes given away on the show.

Rudolph Rassenpunk: This fiendish old man, played by Mike Metzger, appeared during skits during both the 70s and 80s versions as the man in charge of all of the shows's Klunks. Sometimes he was accompanied by "his little punkette", an outlandishly-dressed female cast member with a fondness for sticking her tongue out.

The Treasure Hunt Chicken: A very clumsy person in a chicken suit. She usually popped up where she didn't belong and screwed something up.

PieFace: A rather goofy fellow with pie all over his face and clothes and a bad stuttering problem.

Statue-tory: In the 80's version, this African-American woman, who had a (fake?) latin accent and almost always wore a giant fruit hat, modeled a few of the cars and was involved in the skits with a foreign flair. She often caused trouble for Geoff when she appeared on the show.

The Treasure Hunt Child: This boyish-looking girl was played by Chuck Barris' daughter Della, and occasionally made appearances during the prize presentations made before the contestant chose her box. Usually she carried a plastic dog with her. The crew tried to "give her away" on occasion, but never succeeded thanks to a snotty social worker.

The Treasure Hunt Social Worker: This was Ellen Metzger's main character on the 70's version. With big glasses and a very nasal voice, she nagged Geoff whenever they tried to give away the Treasure Hunt Child, and insisted that to give her away, Geoff had to put her in the box. In the 80s version she returned when the show tried to give away a toddler, and hilarity ensued when the girl said "Mommy!", revealing herself as Ellen's real-life daughter.
