Formulas Required To Pop Trick (In Sequence Of Use)

  1. Ag Ratio = Total Agriculture / (Total Population + 0.1)
  2. New Pop = Old Pop x Ag Ratio
  3. Middle Turn Ag Ratio = Pop desired on Specified Planet / New Pop for Specified Planet
  4. Middle Turn Pop Required = Total Agriculture / Middle Turn Ag Ratio

Pop Trick Without Colonizing Planets To Raise Specified Planet Pop To Desired Level

  1. Calculate New Pop for a specified planet (middle turn pop of specified planet).
  2. Calculate Middle Turn Ag Ratio (required to build pop of specified planet to desired level at end of pop trick).
  3. Calculate Middle Turn Pop Required (what the total population must be reduced to during middle turn so as to achieve the desired Middle Turn Ag Ratio).
  4. Divide Middle Turn Pop amongst available planets to affect desired planetary pop outcomes at end of pop trick. Allocation to each planet can NOT exceed that planet's individually calculated New Pop. To determine each planet's desired middle turn pop, divide pop desired by Middle Turn Ag ratio. Conversely, to determine each planet's resulting planetary pop, multiply the assigned middle turn pop by the Middle Turn Ag Ratio. It is recommended to start with the specified planet's middle turn pop allocation, and subtract it from the Middle Turn Pop Required. Repeat this subtraction process for each successive planet, until each planet is accounted for with a minimum middle turn pop of 1.
  5. Execution of Pop Trick: Beginning Turn - Make pop adjustments to planets on Systems Page at start of pop trick so as to reflect desired middle turn planetary populations. Determine necessity of Pop Trick While Running Ships. Perform appropriate calculations. Dismantle ALL unnecessary ships.
  6. Execution of Pop Trick: Middle Turn - Make pop adjustments to planets on Systems Page to reflect the desired pop levels of each planet at end of pop trick. It is more efficient to simply use pop numbers you ultimately desire, as opposed to the final turn calculated pops resulting from the middle turn pop x middle turn ag ratio formula.
  7. Execution of Pop Trick: Final Turn - Pop trick has been completed. Review Map Page to verify success of pop trick, and continue game play.

Pop Trick With Trade Bonus

Ensure any trade bonus from alliances has been factored into agriculture, fuel and mineral resources prior to calculations for pop trick.

Pop Trick While Running Ships

After calculating the Middle Turn Pop Required and determining its distribution amongst available planets, it is possible to calculate how many ships can be supported during the middle turn. Determine individual fuel and mineral resources, as well as total resources, available in middle turn. Refer to chart on "Ship Build/Maintenance/Fuel Costs" in SC Room as to maintenance resource requirements of ships to be supported. Ship requirements must NOT exceed individual mineral or fuel resources available. A safe rule is to keep only as many ships as you have fuel for. Additionally, fewer or NO ships are better as otherwise Tech Development growth shall be reduced. This reduction is an exact percentage of total resources used by middle turn ships divided by total resources available during middle turn.
